In physiological terms, the fat that we get from our diet is the biggest source of fuel that our body utilizes to generate energy for its daily functions. Fat metabolism is a slow process, i.e. the body breaks down fat very slowly to release energy. This means that fat is not the best source of energy for athletes who are engaged in high-intensity exercise, as their energy needs are higher and more immediate. Hence, athletes prefer carbohydrates as their primary source of energy, as they are metabolized by the body much faster to release instant energy.
Typically, the carbohydrates from food are stored in two forms: glycogen and glucose. When at rest, the body stores the glycogen in your muscles and liver, to be utilized when necessary. When you are engaged in high-intensity exercise, these glycogen reserves are mobilized and broken down systematically to release energy. However, during very intense exercises like endurance events, the body soon starts to deplete its available glycogen sources.
Faced with a deficit, your body switches to using the glucose present in your bloodstream as its main energy source. At this juncture, if the body is not supplied with a new source of glucose, you will start experiencing the phenomenon of ‘spiking and dropping’ or ‘bonking’, which results in a loss of energy, fatigue, and physical and mental inability to go on. At these critical stages of your activity, Unived Energy Gel steps in to recharge you with a complete energy and endurance source that can be quickly absorbed by your body to replenish its depleted energy stores.

Mode of action
1. Maltodextrin and Dextrose:
- Breaks down quickly and gives instant energy.
- Rapidly travels to the blood and corrects glucose deficit in the bloodstream, thus regulating the blood glucose levels.
2. Beta-Alanine:
- Increases skeletal muscle carnosine levels
- Acts as intramuscular buffer of hydrogen ions, thus maintaining acid-base balance.
- Delay fatigue and improve exercise performance.
3. Electrolytes:
a. Sodium:
- Sodium works closely with Chloride redirects precious fluids to the cells and tissues
- Prevents ‘gut bomb’ effect (vomiting during races)
- Prevents hyponatremia (nausea, fatigue, and confusion)
b. Chloride:
- Regulates the body-water balance and helps to retain water.
- Limits the loss of hydration reserves lost to sweat and urine.
- Maintains the necessary volume of fluids in the blood.
c. Magnesium:
- Proper transmission of nerve impulses.
- Helps muscular contraction and energy production.
d. Potassium:
- Works closely with sodium and chloride in maintaining hydration.
- Helps in generating nerve impulses in the nerves and muscles.
- Enhances performance.
4. Caffeine
