Our Premium 1X Oval 96BCD narrow wide chainring is designed for Shimano XT M8000, SLX M7000 and MT700 1x or 2x cranks Only. These chainrings fit Boost and non-boost bikes as correct offset is realized by the crank spider itself, not chainring.

It is ideal for 1x 10/11/12 and Singlespeeds. Oval (elliptical) chainring does not compromise the work of clutch mechanism in rear derailleur(video at the bottom). It also does not require chain tensioner when using in singlespeed application. Riding out of saddle on the uphill will become more pleasant.

How to mount Absolute Black Oval narrow wide chainring:

There is a small mark (triangle shaped) on the inner circumference of the chainring. This mark must sit behind the crank arm. Mounting procedure is identical for SLX and XT cranks. Use the stock 1X Shimano M8 chainring bolts that come with crank and Torque them to about 7Nm.

IMPORTANT - if you are converting from 2X chainring setup to 1X and wish to mount 30T absoluteBLACK ring you need to purchase 1X bolts from Shimano for this crank, because 2X bolts are too short. Other chainring sizes can use Shimano 2X bolts.
